Objectives of Education

Recently, rapid development and change of the bioindustry such as diagnostic gene testing, medical treatment, genomic drug discovery, food analysis, production of transgenic plants and bio-chemical products are remarkable worldwide. Therefore, a novel educational program for training the professional practitioners who are capable of participating in the above mentioned fields to meet with the social needs are highly required.
Moreover, although the representative diversity of food such as gene resources including genetically engineered organisms have been distributed internationally with the daily globalization of economy and transportation, very few administrative systems in Asia countries are able to handle and manage the safety for these resources, not to mention the specialists who can decide the policy of these systems.
The objective of our program is to provide an educational program for “the training of professional practitioners who can play active roles in creating new bioindustry technologies and managing bioindustrial materials for ensuring the distribution and usage of bioresources, can handle intellectual property rights, and can meet with the global standard in regard to international strategy and policy determination.” This education is carried out on the basis of a curriculum focusing on teaching students broad and specialized knowledge and raising their abilities to play an active role in various fields of bioindustry.

Admission Policy

International Bioindustrial Sciences Course for doctoral program has been established in our program as a special course for Global 30.  It develops internationally competitive human resources over multi-disciplinary practices with technology and science components as well as legal, regulatory, social, and ethical aspects for bioindustry promotion. In the course progress, the educational aim of this program is the cultivation of doctorate holders capable of working as practitioners involved in the sustainable development and improvement of life sciences focused on food, resource, medical, energy development, and environmental conservation technologies, to which great importance is acknowledged in the 21st century. In contrast to graduate programs in conventional universities, which generally focus on academic career paths, this program aims to cultivate practical researchers with global standards who can respond to the needs of strategy and policy making from an international perspective. Through education and research fields that integrate natural science and social science, this program seeks to cultivate special practitioners who can contribute to the creation of novel life industries and the acquisition and distribution of biological resources that are its raw materials, as well as securing of intellectual properties.
